I'm setting up this site both to showcase and hopefully get some feedback on my short story writing as well as to motivate me to do at least a few prompted freewrites every week. If you think this looks like fun, then I'll be happy to post your freewrites here as well.
What's a prompted freewrite? Essentially you pick up a newspaper article or a book or any other written source and take six to ten words out of it at random without looking for any pattern. Then you sit down and on the spot write a short story (a few paragraphs usually) that somehow incorporates all of those words.
I will put the words at the top of the piece... and usually add an asterisk as each gets used.
So sit back and enjoy some freewrites, Brian-style.
